In June 2015, my mother: Mrs Indra Kumari Gurung organised a ‘Nepal Shanti Maha Yagya’ wishing eternal peace to those killed by the recent devastating earthquake in our beloved country – Nepal, and for those injured to get well soon. My tears roll down for those who lost their loved ones, family members, homes, and to those survivors who are still struggling with several physical disabilities and mental sufferings. The puja (prayer) was also performed for the welfare of all human beings, peace and harmony in the world, and prayer for no repetition of such devastation in our beloved country and rest of the world.

The Hindu Priests concluded with several chanting of the hymns from Vedas offering prayers to the departed souls and to relieve those suffering due to the natural calamity.

Aarti was also later performed by ‘Hare Krishna’ devotees.

I would especially like to thank Mrs Sabitri Gurung (Hong Kong) for the genuine financial support offered to conduct this auspicious Maha Yagya.

May the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace and May God grant our brothers and sisters in Nepal directly affected by this natural disaster till today’s date: the strength, courage and the help they need to keep hope alive.
